You're reading too much into it, I'm a public school guy, so when I hear Encinitas kid, I go "cool, LCC or San Dieguito". HS athletics in So Cal has been taken over by rampant recruiting, school switching etc, so I always find it refreshing when kids still play for the neighborhood school, not the million dollar school down the road...
I have no idea, and apologies to Aiken. It's a great achievement. I'll reserve my comments on CIF rules and recruiting for another column, just went with my gut reaction, which is kids don't go to the neighborhood school any more, they go where they can get the most visibility so they can get the big bucks....
Who in their right mind would send their boy to a catholic school that has facilitated raping of boys for centuries by people who claim to follow Gods will. Disgusting.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteToo bad he didn't play for one of our local schools, but well done!
ReplyDeleteCome on, enough with the feel good stories and back to the hate!
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteCathedral Catholic is a local school, not far from Torrey Pines High.
Ok, public school, like La Costa or San Dieguito, which are the schools in Encinitas, the town where he's from.
ReplyDeleteLots of kids from Encinitas go to Cathedral Catholic.
ReplyDeleteLCC is in Carlsbad.
Yeah, the "too bad ..." was an odd comment.
ReplyDeleteHe is a local kid done good.
Let's hope he makes it to the majors with a lot of success so we can all feel the local pride.

ReplyDeleteDo you know this kid switched schools, got recruited, etc, or maybe his parents just wanted him to get an education at Cathedral Catholic?

DeleteLCC is in the San Dieguito Union School District.
ReplyDeleteand is in Carlsbad, not Encinitas.
DeleteDoes it really matter? The local kid did good! That's all that matters.Good on ya Brady!!
DeletePartyCity Encinitas.....OUT OF BUSINESS. !!!!

ReplyDeleteYou could always try public schools, I suppose.
DeleteEncinitas schools are good, people don't know how lucky they are here. In my old town of Pasadena they stink now, and they were good when I grew up.
DeletePeople have given up on Public Schools, it's a shame. That's what made our country great. That and free libraries for everyone.

LAUSD, where the teacher referenced above is from is one of the worst districts in the nation, and has been since I was a kid in the 70's.
DeleteIt's flat out too big, too corrupt. Break it up and start over. As for creepy bad teachers, we've always had them, public and private.
Boy, we went far afield on this one.
Anywho, apologies to Aiken, congrats on your draft selection..
